I generally don't write reviews- good or bad, but I had to take time and write a review for this product. BEST INVENTION EVER! I'm a new mom & have a dog and this makes pushing my baby and taking out my dog so easy!!
Excellent product. Just tried today and it works very well. My boyfriend likes to running and my dog loves to come with him. My dog likes to go rush, and this product has spring recoil hose which can brings my dog back lol. It also has a handle part so when someone passing by I can hold it.
Took my first walk/jog with my 143 pound Rhodesian Ridge back. I was worried about the spring action of the leash. However, it functioned beautifully. Shortening the lead gave me more control and kept him next to me. One issue I had was the waist strap did slide around, but I think I just need to find the fit and position that works best for me. As a side note, I have a 25 inch waist with my clothing on and am five eight, so I found it more comfortable to wear it around hip level. I will update and provide further feedback around the one month mark.
This leash is awesome! With my carpal tunnel, I don't have to worry about my large dogs pulling too hard on my hands/ wrist, especially when I'm in surgery recovery. My dogs are 65 and 80 pounds. This leash works well for either one :).
Also, since it is a waist leash, I can ground myself with my center of gravity rather than being yanked. This leash is great if you have any problems with your hands. If you need to, though, there are handles you can grab to bring them in closer.
Also, a cool update I found is that you can clip the leash to be shorter if you are consistently pulling the dog in or the leash is dragging. When my dog gets tired, she stays close to me and the leash kept dragging and getting caught under her. I was able to clip it to be shorter and it worked perfectly. Plus there are two other clip lengths you can use.
have used the leashes over 40 times since my purchase 5 weeks ago. I like to break in a product prior to reviewing. No more worry about my shoulder being pulled, or using 2 leashes that tangle. These don't. I wear it low on my waist. As my dog moves along, stops, resteps back, or side to side, the leash swivels easily & I stay straight. With my hands free, I can be stable as we go & I use my arms to enhance exercise movement.
Very sturdy material for the clasp, waist material & leash, yet the handle straps are easy on the hands. I kept it short, but I am short! This puts the 2 handles right in my reach, perfect when holding them as a vehicle passes, as other pets are walking by, or to hold one back as the other passes to the front. There is the option to lengthen.
I purchased two. This way I can take both dogs on one leash, or use both leashes when walking my dogs with another person.
There are so many ways we can attach the dogs using the clips all along the length & waistband. This would be perfect for someone with multiple pets with combined weight within the weight limit.
I am happy with my purchase & I know my 2 girls are, too!
Very effective and workable. The belt is robust and comfortable. The leash is adjustable and works well for jogging when in the shortened configuration. I'm 6'1" and have a tall dog so the shortened configuration is a good fit. The bungy is quite rigid but I haven't experienced this to be a problem.
The clip belt attaches around your waist and I did not have it super snug, so the leash could twist around my body giving Jake more range of motion.
The bungee style leash is brilliant for running! As he changed pace, found a mailbox to pee on, or ran from a cow, instead of the leash yanking me, it gives some slack to minimize the tug and the elasticity of the bungee helps to pull the dog back.
Don’t get me wrong, I could still feel him pulling, but no where near a normal leash. And I’m able to use my body weight to help control him as opposed to my arm and upper back.
The handles on the leash are well placed as well, and as we cross streets or see other animals, I can have better control of him by using the adequately placed handles.
I have used this leash 2 times for walking only and again, it is far superior to normal leash. I have two small children and being able to be hands free outside on walks or playing is a game changer. I clip the leash to the front of Jake’s harness and attach around my waist and away we go.
Bottom line: I wish I would have found something like this years ago
We have a new dog in our family. She's half husky and pulls like she's constantly hauling a sled. We bought this for both regular leash training as well as a running leash.
First, for regular leash training: It is definitely helpful as a tool to teach a pulling dog how to walk nice on a leash. We first paired it with a gently lead harness to no avail. Next we tried a regular collar. That was SO much worse. We finally went with a Haltee style gentle lead. She hated it for five minutes, but combined with the bungee leash, she is walking so much better. We are able to shorten the leash as needed, or grab onto the handle further down if needed, which is hugely helpful. Now if we could just get her to quit stopping right in front of you while your walking.
Second, for a running leash: This is where this leash really shines! Especially when you're teaching a dog to run with you, but even for an experienced dog and human pair, this leash is great! Again, being able to change the length is huge! The waist belt makes it worlds easier than holding in your hands, and allows you to keep your form! the bungees are crucial in helping the dog keep pace AND help the runner not fall on their face if the dog decides to lunge for a squirrel! I can't find a down side to this leash. Everyone who runs with their dog should buy this.
This leash has changed my life. I am now able to walk my two 50-lb dogs together effortlessly. Up until now it was such a struggle, with one wanting to go go go and the other wanting to stop stop stop, and each pulling in different directions. It was so bad that I often had to walk them separately: unfortunately though, it was too time-consuming to do that every day. Now we can all walk together comfortably; attaching the leash to the waist band provides so much extra control against pulling and also frees up my hands. Honestly, I can't think of a single thing to criticize about this leash; I love the length, the quality of the materials, the handles, the numerous adjustment options (including the ability to quickly seize control if needed), the waist band, and the price (very competitive). It's been ideal so far (have had it for only a few days), so I really hope it holds up over the long term.
In fact it's been so good for me and my dogs that today I took it with me to the shelter where I volunteer. I walk all kinds of dogs there, and many of them have not been leash-trained prior to coming to us so I was hoping the leash would give me more control with less effort and that's exactly what happened. I am so happy because this means I can walk more of the dogs and my knees don't have to be heroes any more. I also used it with a six-lb chihuahua and didn't have any issues with it being too heavy for him.
