This is and does exactly as is specified and to the point great product for starting my weed-wacker
Great product. I use it for my trimmer / blower. After having a couple of surgeries I needed something to ease the process of starting the motor without me having to bend down and do it. This jump start is exactly what I needed.
The biggest thing I hate about gas powered trimmers is the fact that you have to yank on the darn thing till your arm falls off then you have no more energy to do the work you needed to do in the first place.
Thanks to this little contraption, which I didn’t know would work on my trimmer when I bought it, I just put it in my handy cordless dewalt drill and put it in the receptical and it starts up the trimmer. Like electric start!
Worth the money!
I put this into my 18v porter cable and switched to speed 2 because 1 did not spin it fast enough. It did not start immediately but I primed again and spun it for a little bit and realized it was running. You would not believe how many times before I put this trimmer back in the shed or left it in the sun to warm up. This little device is amazing Heck, even if you added the price of a cheap harbor frieght drill, it would still be worth it. The trimmer runs great once it is started. Nice a quiet, plenty of power for what I do. This device just saved me from buying a new trimmer!!!
The adapter works fine. It's heavy metal, exact fit for the 5-sided socket in the tool. The red plastic bushing is just a snug press fit, so it will turn (so don't try to turn the red plastic bushing thing). It won't hurt anything if that part does come off, but it is nice to have in place, because it indicates the correct direction of rotation to start the motor, if in doubt. Since that part is just soft plastic, I drilled a small hole in it to attach a piece of string to be able to hang this adapter on the wall next to my trimmer. This little part is handy, but is one of those little things that might be easy to lose track of.
I use his adapter and a 3/8 inch, 18V drill to start my trimmer. It takes several turns before the trimmer will start, because the drill (even fully charged) doesn't really turn it as fast as it probably needs to. It's not a problem, and it definitely works, but a larger, more powerful drill might start the motor just a little quicker.
