This gets used really often. I buy hamburger in bulk, then make patties, wrap them and put them in the freezer in bags. They are always ready, and I can grab 2 or 4 or however many I need. I like this burger press better than any of them I have used recently. It is very sturdy and the bottom comes out so that the patty comes out perfect every time. It will not break and will last me many years.
When I ordered this item I knew my husband would either love it or hate it. There would be no middle ground. Thankfully he loves it! We make a lot of burgers that have cheese, olives, onions, bacon and other delicious additions baked into them. We are always inspired by what we see in the display case at Whole Foods. However, our home attempts have always been pretty delicate and we used to have trouble with them holding together on the grill. Using this burger press, we have had flawless, well formed burgers every time. No loose olive pieces, no section that falls off. And... much to my husbands delight, the burgers I make are now all the same size and thickness. Our homemade burgers look professional every time.
I just made my first stuffed burgers with this press and they came out really well! I got a little OCD and actually weighed each portion. This was mostly to make sure all the burgers were sized the same, but also to make sure that I got 4 burgers from the meat I had. In this case I use 5 oz of meat for each (2 oz for the tops and 3 oz for the bottoms). This seemed like the minimum amount of meat I could use to make a stuffed burger.
First I pressed the tops flat and even and then took them out of the press. One thing that was not clear from the description is that the bottom of the press is a disk that pushes up from the bottom to get the burgers out (also makes it easy to clean). This made getting everything out intact pretty easy. I then pressed the bottoms, filled them (roasted jalapeño peppers and jack cheese), topped them, and pressed to seal.
I did some searching around for a burger press and picked this one because the price was affordable, looked like it would survive the dish washer without issue, and it was well reviewed. So far I am not disappointed! Highly recommend.
After searching for a burger press to make uniform Vegan bean & vegetable burgers and trying both the Cave Tools Square Bubba Sized Burger Maker (too wide and square shape makes corners too crispy) and the Prep Solutions Patty Press (too thin) I decided to try this. Seems this fits my needs perfectly. I haven't tried stuffing my burgers, not sure I am interested in doing so, but this is the perfect thickness for a burger and fits a bun well. Works best if you line with waxed patty paper before pressing. Easy to use and clean. Highly recommend!
We chose this item due to poor reviews on similar products and positive feedback for this one. The item certainly lives up to the reviews! Even though the press appeared easy to clean, I saved myself a lot of effort by lining the cup with plastic wrap before adding the burger. I used 5 1/4 ounces of ground beef and placed a second layer of plastic wrap over the top. The press made a perfect indentation in the patty which I filled with crumbled bacon and Gorgonzola cheese.i used a second patty of about 2 1/4 ounces which I pre-formed and placed on top, then covered with plastic wrap and pressed to seal. Burgers popped out easily and clean up was minimal since I used the plastic wrap. The most important part--the burgers were great!! I've already purchased a second one as a gift. Can't wait to experiment with different fillings....maybe jalapeños and cream cheese next...
Fantastic product! Very easy to use and clean. I live alone and am on fixed income and dismayed because I would find myself wasting some of the ground beef I bought because I could not use it up well enough. If you buy really small quantities it costs a lot more, but if you buy larger amounts, especially when it is on sale, it saves a lot. But in larger quantities, it is hard for one person to use it up before it goes bad.. But this burger press allows me to make up a number of patties and either freeze them raw, or cook them all at once and freeze them. I like cooked best, Both because of taste and because its easier to broil them all at once. it is healthier, too, because thawing one at a time, means you are far more likely to fry it, than broil it. After pressing and cooking the patties, I put one patty in a zip sandwich bag, and then put several of those inside a freezer bag. That way I can get one out at a time and microwave it. Makes sure I always have a fast but healthy bit of protein to go with my vegies or salad.. It not only saves money on ground beef, but I also used it to make fresh pork patties, and turkey burger patties, both being much less expensive than ground beef.
